Think Pink
This weekend I embraced my pink side and had a root around my makeup station to find some of my favourite pink products. Firstly the most beautiful collection of Sleek blushers called pink lemonade. Two powders and one cream make this trio not only versatile but great if you want a day to night look as well as on for a day off. Cream blushes are great for a more vibrant hydrated look I usually dab them on with a sponge wedge in patting motions. I apply the blusher to the apples of my cheeks. A good tip when applying blush is to start the blush the width of two fingers from your nose. Sweep it outwards and blend it. Tap the brush before it makes contact with your cheek to avoid too intense a colour. My favourite blusher brush is the one by Real Techniques. The tapered head is perfect for applying and if you are looking to pick it up it is the bigger of the pink ones in the range. If you want to go high end and vibrant try Bobbi Brown Peony powder blush. It looks fantastic on blondes. For a more subtle pink with golden tones I adore Dainty by Mac. Mac Girl about town is one of my favourite lipsticks. It is bright and vibrant and the cool undertones make your teeth look whiter. Applied with a lip liner such as Rimmel Indian pink it keeps the lipstick in place perfectly and is a great summer look. If you are looking for a lighter shade of liner Rimmel Eastend snob is a winner. I love their liners and they retail at under €6. For a more magenta colour lipstick I wear RS320 by Shiseido. This works really well on thin lips too as the lipstick is very hydrating. If you are a fan of matte lipstick or lip stain try Sleek Matte me liquid lipstick. It applies like a gloss but dries to a matte finish. Brink Pink is my personal favourite. For a matte velvet look Isa Dora have a shade called super pink. These handy twist- up crayons are long lasting and not at all drying on the lip. This means that even if your lips are dry, they won’t appear flaky.
Vibrant nails are a must for toes in the summer Isa Dora Gel Nail Lacquer offers a great chip proof option; the colour Weekend is what every flip flop needs. Designer nails are great for your fingers and the Iconic Tom Ford nail lacquer in Pink fever exudes class and sophistication whilst still being fun. On a budget or just not ready for full on pink commitment for your nails? WetnWild Megalast nail colour is so pretty for a natural pink in Sugar coat. I use this one as the pink for a French polish sometimes as I like a more pink that natural shade. If you like to get a two or three week polish Gelish Pink smoothie is a nice pastel pink shade and is quite popular with brides.
One of the questions I get asked a lot is how can you wear pink eyeshadow without looking ill or irritated? It is quite simple. Utilise mascara and liner to your advantage. Avoid anything with too much shimmer and you can avoid the sugared almond look. If you like pale, smoke it out with a chocolate or dark charcoal colour. I guess the challenge is to not wear pink alone. Mac Veluxe Pearlfusion shadow in Pink luxe is a pallet of five complimentary shades which is great for a day to night look of combining. Because these all complement each other it takes the thought out of matching them to create a slightly more smoky look.
