Being blonde is hard work … Nobody can really ever appreciate the blood sweat and tears that goes into being a really good blonde. Luckily in recent years I’ve always had a really good ash blonde, with no warmth or yellow. I have this infinite fear of yellow hair, so many people wear a golden blonde so well. I am no one of these people. Low-lights never sit well in my hair either. They go brassy and the colour just doesn’t stay true. I am what you might call a problem.
Something I’ve not experienced Though was a Redken blonde. Instagram has me hooked on looking at the hashtag #blondenation where I could see these really clean cut white blondes with their natural roots. Anyway as you can see from the before picture trying a rooted blonde on myself by being disorganised about arranging an appointment was just plain silly. What you’re seeing in the before picture is a good blonde with horrific roots. It took around seven weeks to get an appointment for colour at All Dolled up.. So if you’re thinking of actually going there make the appointment now. I am lucky that although my roots were bad I am naturally quite fair with a few little light grey ones too.

The vibe in the salon is really great. Everyone is happy to be there and busy and you can just tell that.I love people watching and the chairs are facing onto the street so you can look out and see what is happening if you like. Obviously there is a mirror in front of you so your modesty is preserved because lets face it NOBODY looks attractive with a head of tinfoil plastered on and one of the Mumu gowns ( on a separate note why has nobody invented a nice gown for the hairdressers?).
Stephen looked after my colour as well as my trim. Since getting long hair I cannot be without it. I am addicted so just wanted the bare ends cut off. Thankfully Stephen understood this so took off a bare half an inch. The blonde is still nice and creamy with no yellow tones almost two weeks later. I always wait a week or two before writing a colour review because you nearly always dance out of the salon with beautiful hair, but if the colour is bad it does take a week or so to show.
All of the products used to colour my hair were Redken, and I had a gorgeous Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Conditioning treatment afterwards. I can only have my hair coloured where my Great Lengths aren’t so you only get a half head of highlights. So I came away with some great blonde and a dry shampoo that I love, it’s called Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair and that is a whole other blog.
