A Delightful Duo

Combination skin has always needed a special type of care. Lots of people have found that traditional masking doesn’t work for their skin-type.  Hark The Body Shop pulled it out of the bag once again. They have their two best selling mask for  Christmas in a set.

You can buy these two masks separately but the gift set is better value.

Himalayan Charcoal is great on your Zone or all over your face,, it tingles a little but this is because it is drawing out the nasties that have built up on your skin. It unclogs your pores and absorbs excess oil. Acne prone or oily skin love clay.  There are basically three phases of a clay  or charcoal mask. There’s the damp phase where your skin drinks in the beneficial minerals from the outside. Then you have the start of the dry phase, which exercises your capillaries and stimulates blood flow as the mask cools and contracts. But then there’s the dry phase, the phase that you never want to reach, which draws out moisture from the surface of your skin, causing dehydration and irritation. This is the point that any clay mask starts to flake, you need to rinse it before that point. If you obey this rule your face will feel smooth and clean but not tight.

Next up the plumping rose mask. Roses are long standing symbols of beauty and their skincare benefits are celebrated the world over. Romantic and pretty they do actually offer many beauty benefits as anyone that has uses a rose based product will already know. They contain high amounts of vitamin C believe it or not which is an antioxidant and has proven benefits for the skin. This mask will soothe dry or ageing skin. It contains rose hip which is quenching and refreshing. The texture is gel so it won’t leave a heavy or oily residue on the skin. The mask doesn’t dry or set so 15 minutes is a good guide time.

Masking your skin once or twice a week is a great treat. Remove the mask with a warm flannel. Don’t overfeed your skin afterwards with heavy serums or cream, just relax and enjoy the super feeling of soft skin.
