Anybody that’s been reading my blogs or following me for a long time on social media will know that I’m not really into rest and relaxation but as I’m getting older I’m valuing “me” time even more. Traditionally a spa day is shared with a partner or a pal but I played hooky from work a few weeks back and took myself on a day date to one of Cork City’s most reputed spas. Before I went to see Sandrine for my body scrub the gang at the Kingsley treated me to a lavish lunch in their fantastic Springboard Restaurant. I opted for the special from the menu which was absolutely divine. A supreme of chicken with baby potatoes and tender stem broccoli. I enjoyed a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc to accompany it. Dessert was a melt in the mouth chocolate fondant with an expertly made cappuccino. Ioften find the food in hotels uninspired but this was not the case with the Kingsley.
It’s never wise to head straight to the spa after a lunch, so I availed of the hot tub and chill out area in advance of my treatment. The hot tub overlooks the Lee and it really is a treat to be outdoors and warm while caressed by the jets. It was so relaxing and as it was midweek not very busy either.
The Spa
It had been a while since i indulged myself to any form of Spa treatment but Sandrine the therapist was amazing and so gentle on my back which was sore from my recent gym expolits. I had a divine body scrub and massage and some time in the thermal suite afterwards. My skin felt so soft and supple afterwards. I must saw the products that were used for the scrub with so relaxing. I had opted for a relaxing shower afterwards. Sandrine put a capsule in the shower so te water that was cascading out was filled with essential oils. A true treat. The Spa is immaculate and the team at the hotel truly outstanding. I loved the natural relaxed vibe in the relaxation area. There is ample free parking and all of the treatments cans be tailored to your needs.
